First stop - San Francisco

Jan 1-6

San Francisco is always a nice stop. For us it's also a chance to say hi to our cool son Adam, meet his lovely girlfriend Jo (Joana) and cut a little time off our trans-Pacific flight. It's sunny & in the 60's here, already a big improvement from sub-zero snowy Wisconsin.

Adam & Jo are in Mexico when we arrive, so we do some walking around. In SF it's a good way to stay in shape. We should have a topographic map of this city. Turns out you don't have to go over the TOP of Russian Hill to go south from Bay Street. I think I've tripped on the up & down sidewalks every time I've been here.

Took the bus to  Golden Gate Park and saw the David Hockney  exhibit at the De Young  art museum.  Hope I can retain  a fraction of his innovative creativity when  I'm in my 70's. Browsed  through the  farmer's markets at the Embarcadero & at the Civic Center. Nice samples of persimmons, blood oranges, toffee &  pomegranates. Had a fruit & green veggie smoothie. Both tasty & justifyingly nutritious. Had a great Italian dinner with Adam & Jo Played two games of pool with them -  with much coaching  I  got one ball in the pocket.
